Beagles are scent hounds, developed primarily for tracking hare, rabbit, and other game.
fox hunting - or so ive been told :/
because they where bred to do that
Probably because when one of them was bred, it was bred with the other. I'm thinking that Harriers where bred with the beagle pattern because beagles were bred such a long time ago.
Beagles were never "discovered" but they were bred in England in the 1830's
Yes. They are hounds that were originally bred to hunt.
Yes, they were bred as hunting dogs and are very inquisitive.
Some are used for hunting but some are just pets and they are used for hunting hares heanct the activite Beagling
Beagles were originally bred around 1830 in Great Britain. They are believed to be a mix of several other breeds of hounds & even terriers that had existed some 2,000 years.
Some Beagles are particularly attentive to little yellow birds, e.g., birds named Woodstock. These types of Beagles like to feed these birds and offer companionship. Other Beagles prefer less involved activities and like to sleep. A favorite hobby of all Beagles, like other scent hounds, is sniffing.
They hunt both ways. With my beagle if she sees a rabbit she is gone and you can hear her from a mile a way.
Beagles are known for their good sense of smell and tracking ability. The activity of hunting rabbits, foxes, etc. with beagles is known as beagling. Beagles were introduced in the United States in the 1870s.

You would need to ask your local vet to know for sure. Beagles are not one of the breeds that were bred for cold weather, and unless you have a very good dog house [and you don't get the typical cold Canadian winters in your area], a beagle is not likely to fare well outdoors in the winter.
