1. A tincture is an alcohol-based derivative of a fresh herb or other natural plant material, used primarily as an alternative medicine or dietary supplement. Few mainstream pharmaceuticals still offer medicines in this form, although this method is still popular among herbalists and homeopathic practitioners. This resin is then combined with alcohol to make a tincture. The primary medical purpose of tincture of benzine is to protect the skin from pathogens.
2. It is still a good idea to check in a reference book or with an herbalist about the potentially varying effects of a tincture made from fresh or dry herbs before you begin using a tincture. The source and quality of the plant material in a tincture greatly affects the quality of the product as well.

Cannabis Tinctures are solutions containing the hydrophobic components of the cannabis plant, most importantly, THC. A cannabis tincture can be made by either finely grinding de-seeded cannabis material and placing this in a sufficient amount of ethanol, or by macerating the cannabis material in the ethanol using a blender. The amount of ethanol should be at least enough to cover all the plant material, plus some. After anywhere from 24 hours (for finely powdered cannabis, stored in high proof alcohol at or slightly above room temperature, with nearly constant agaitation), to a week, the alcohol/cannabis mixture should be strained through a coffee filter or other fine filter to obtain a bright green clear solution. The used weed can be again covered in a smaller amount of alocohol and extracted again for a day or two to squeeze out the last little bit of THC. When I say ethanol, in this case I mean Everclear or Clear Springs, or whatever brand of 95% ethanol is handy (check your local liqour store). 100 proof vodka will suffice, but you may end up with some funky flavors in the final product.
