Short Answer:Greenhouse gases have been keeping the planet warm enough for life for millions of years. Now, however, the serious increase in greenhouse gas levels over the last 250 years is causing global warming. A:The majority of the world's climate scientists have concluded that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from human activities, such as transportation and electricity production, have a significant impact on the atmosphere and are having a discernible influence on global climate.

Since the dawn of the industrial age, the global economy has become increasingly dependent on the use of fossil fuels to power our businesses and our way of life. We share the growing concern that, if left unchecked, these emissions will continue to alter the atmosphere and the climate, disrupting human settlements around the globe and threatening human and natural ecosystems.

Expected ConsequencesThe expected consequences of greenhouse gas emissions include:
  • Hotter and cooler temperatures
  • General rise in sea levels, in part resulting from melting polar ice caps
  • Changes in rainfall patterns
  • Increased frequency and severity of storm systems such as hurricanes, windstorms and thunderstorms
  • Increased frequency and severity of droughts and floods
  • Loss of habitat and biodiversity
  • Expanded occurrence and distribution of serious health risks and diseases
Carbon Constrained EconomyAs scientists have gathered increasing levels of proof that climate change is occurring, and why, efforts to combat this problem have gained significant momentum. Around the world, citizens, corporations and individuals alike, are choosing different types of transportation and sources of electricity, and are investing in technologies that promise to reduce or sequester green house gas emissions. It is this group of "first movers" who will lead us towards a more sustainable future and be the best prepared to thrive in a global economy that is increasingly carbon constrained.

The negative effects include:

  • more severe floods and droughts
  • increasing prevalence of insects
  • sea levels rising
  • Earth's precipitation may be redistributed
  • zero degree weather
  • lower health
  • decreasing economic development:

The consequences of an enhanced greenhouse effect are that the earth is warming, globally. This global warming has many predicted consequences such as sea levels rising from the melting of ice caps and glaciers. Sea-level rise will threaten the survival of Pacific nations and will flood many coastal areas around the world. Weather events (storms, floods, droughts, tornadoes etc) will become more severe and more frequent.

A runaway greenhouse effect, such as happened on the planet Venus, would make the planet so hot that nothing would survive. The temperature on Venus is now 460 C.

Excess greenhouse gases mean that more heat is trapped in the atmosphere, causing an enhanced (or accelerated) greenhouse effect which is causing global warming.

Does Uranus have a runaway greenhouse effect?

NO.

Which planet is dominated by a Greenhouse effect?

Venus has a runaway greenhouse effect that has boiled its oceans dry.

Is the planet that features the runaway greenhouse effect.?

venus

Due to a runaway greenhouse affect what planet has a high temperature affect?

Venus is the hot planet with the runaway greenhouse effect. its oceans have boiled dry.

Which planet is the hottest due to the greenhouse effect gone wild?

Venus has a runaway greenhouse effect. Its seas have now boiled dry!

Do inner planets have greenhouse effect?

Only Venus and Earth have a greenhouse effect because they have a substantial atmosphere. Venus actually has a runaway greenhouse effect causing its surface temperatures to rise to 450 Celsius.

Does the greenhouse effect only occur on earth?

No. A gross example is Venus, which has a runaway greenhouse effect. The surface temperature is hot enough to melt lead.

What planet has more greenhouse effect?

Venus. Similar to Earth in many ways, a runaway greenhouse effect is thought responsible for its 900°F (480°C) surface temperature.

If the greenhouse effect went out of control what would you have?

You could have a runaway greenhouse effect, where positive feedbacks increase so rapidly that the temperature rises too fast and too high to control. Venus has a runaway greenhouse effect, and the oceans have boiled dry and the ground temperature is about 464 °C (867°F).

What is another name for enhanced greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is the natural process by which greenhouse gases keep the earth's temperature at a comfortable level suitable for human existence. The enhanced greenhouse effect is the increase in greenhouse gases that is leading to global warming. The term "enhanced greenhouse effect" is also referred to as the "anthropogenic greenhouse effect" and is the idea that humans may have an effect on global climate. It is also referred to as the "runaway greenhouse effect".

Which planet has a poisonous atmosphere that has been described as the product of a runaway greenhouse effect?

VENUS

What is the ' runaway greenhouse effect' produced by Venus' atmosphere?

The runaway greenhouse effect on Venus occurred when carbon dioxide (CO2) levels got so high that it caused an extreme temperature rise. Venus used to have oceans, but these have all boiled dry.
