What are different opinions about abusing and abandoning animals?

Well i think that abusing an animal is hiting it chaining it up outside without water, beating it, being mean to it choking it whiping it, things like that, abandoning an animal is probily leaving it for days at a time alone or just leaving it and not coming back leaving an animal somewhere and not coming back. Dont know if this helps any.
