they are called brachycephalic (pronounced: brac-e-sif-alic)
Usually with brachycephalia, or "short skull". Dogs with very short snouts such as Pugs, English bulldogs and Pekingese usually have breathing problems and overheat quicker than other dogs because of this.
Longer and shorter snouts on dogs are for different tasks the dog might be for. Typically a rooter will have a longer snout for holes in your ground that contain small rodents and the like, etc.
It's cold season.

Pit bulls are short haired dogs.
Unlike a lot of dogs, the English bulldog was not created by crossing two specific dog breeds together but was rather developed by crossing a variety of different dogs in an attempt to make the ultimate bull-baiting dog. What dog-breeders would look for in dogs was short snouts, strong jaws, muscular bodies, dogs that were low to the ground, and had a tenacious demeanor. Dog breeders would breed together these dogs with the desired traits until the ideal bulldog was created. These pre-bulldogs are not well known, although there is a suggestion that they may of descended from mastiff-type dogs.
Other French Bull Dogs.
American bull dogs like pit bulls are in the bull breeds category. If you raise them properly they will be good dogs.
English bull dogs were originally breed for an anchient sport where people would tie up a bear of "Bull", and sick dogs on it.
