You probably mean "doldrums".
The doldrums are low pressure building up area near the equatorial belt where the winds north of the equator/south of equator between the northern and southern trade winds in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans/two hemispheres rush in creating equatorial sea storms. The period of low pressure with no wind movement is termed as doldrums extended in the word used figuratively to mean a low mood, or melancholy. As in "He's down in the doldrums" (ie "he is sad and low")
