Epic poem is a legendary narrative poem and the best example of epic poetry are
Iliad,
where in 24 rhapsodies the 10 years war between the Hellenes and Trojans is described
and
Odyssey,
where in 24 rhapsodies the 10 years adventurous journey to homeland of Odysseus, Ithaki, is described both written by Homer.
Later Virgil the Roman epic poet wrote the Aeneid where the journey of Aeneas from the defeated Troy to Italy is described.
