∙ 9y agoThe main factor that is to be considered before buying a server is that how much are you going to use the server or in other words what will be the load on the server.The server are usually with Intel Xeon so you can actually focus on the cores of the processor while thinking of the load that the server is going to take.
The other factors like RAM provided with the server is 4gb.You need to see whether the load can increase in the future so that you can increase the RAM of the server if required.
If the network for the server is going to be large then more power is required.So you need to select a server according to that.Power supply can be upgraded in many so go and check whether the one you are buying is upgradable or not.
Your server should have the network card that can support broadband facility if required to the others connected to the server.
You can choose the from the operating systems already tested for the servers like Windows NT, Windows 2000, Unix and many others.
Many times you need to use the server as a backup place so consider what type of back place you want it to be a large one or a medium one.You can buy one with expandable space that is probably in every server.
You can also go for a server with CD DRIVE so that if you want to install some software on the server.
Make sure how many and what size of drive bays are there in the server cabinet.You can then accordingly place the drives in the cabinet.
And last but not the least look for a server with good warranty time and with good reviews on the web.Go for a company that gives you good services and repairs in you area.
