YES. WE. CAN.

I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it."
"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
"I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go."
"Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel's. It will be a strong friend of Israel's under a McCain...administration. It will be a strong friend of Israel's under an Obama administration. So that policy is not going to change."
"I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."
"I'm proud of the fact that I stood up early and unequivocally in opposition to Bush's foreign policy (and was the only U.S. Senate candidate in Illinois to do so). That opposition hasn't changed."
"What I was suggesting -- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith..." (because he doesn't have a Muslim faith)
I recognize there is a certain presumptuousness in this, a certain audacity, to this announcement. I know that I haven't spent a lot of time learning the ways of Washington, but I've been there long enough to know that the ways of Washington must change. People who love their country can change it."
"I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that. But I think it's fair to say...that the Cambridge police acted stupidly"
"...just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can't constrain the exercise of that right..."
"I cannot swallow whole the view of Lincoln as the Great Emancipator."
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK. That's not leadership. That's not going to happen."
"The Bush Administration's failure to be consistently involved in helping Israel achieve peace with the Palestinians has been both wrong for our friendship with Israel, as well as badly damaging to our standing in the Arab world."
"No one is pro-abortion."
'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'
'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'

Barack Obama has had many quotes since he became a well-known politician. But perhaps the one speech that launched him on the national stage was a speech he delivered in 2004 at the Democratic convention. In it he was talking about the so-called red-state and blue-state divide, how we are supposedly so divided as a country. But he disagreed with that opinion. He said, "There is not a liberal America and a conservative America - there is the United States of America. There is not a black America and a white America and a Latino America and an Asian America - there's the United States of America."
There are many quotable things Barack Obama said. His campaign slogan was "yes we can," and he often used that in speeches to encourage people to think positively. He is also known for saying "Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." (In fairness, part of this quote is very well known and has been attributed to others, but it is also identified with Mr. Obama.) He also used a call-and-response in his rallies "Fired up; ready to go." (He would say "fired up," and the audience would respond "ready to go.")
"The Arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice." (Martin Luther King Jr.)
