The lumps can be many different things. They are usually harmless, as they are more likely fatty tissues. If you are concerned about them, you should talk with your vet.
I have some in my thighs, under the skin. My doctor told me not to worry about them, they don't hurt, just annoying. I have done some research and they are probably lipomas, just fatty lumps. I'm not a doctor but it's my two cents.

Lymphoma does not usually present in this manner, I believe you meant to say, could a lump on my back be a lipoma (benign fatty tumor). The above is true, but would like to add that fatty lumps (even hard lumps) are not always cancerous. ANY LUMP should be seen by your doctor so get in there ASAP. It will put your mind at rest.
