Females are generally more selective when choosing a mate because many, not all choose their mates based on solid traits and features such as job stability, education, and family background.
Well for starters I wouldn't stereo type the whole feminine race but the majority probably do that because women are more easily hurt. They are far more sensitive then most men and these days it's hard to find a good guy that's not trying to get in your pants.
