Flat mirrors are the commonest type, and provide a reflection of the subject. Useful for shaving in and for checking my clothes. They just reflect the light that falls on them.

An interesting experiment you can do is to get a couple of flat mirrors and erect them at 90o to each other. If you look in these, you will see a reflection of you that is as other folk see you. The best version of this uses frameless mirrors.
