here were some fun games 13 year-olds I know played a at a party recently:
Quack, Quack:
it's simple, really. Sit in a large circle. One person stands in the middle blindfolded, and spins until someone yells that everyone's ready. The blindfolded person must then find someone and sit on their lap. That person must say "quack quack" in any way he/she wants (in a deep voice, singing it, growling it, squeaking it, etc. ) the blindfolded person must guess who it is without asking questions, feeling the person's face, or other tricks to figure out who it is. Just by the sound of the voice.
Guess who:
Make index cards beforehand and write names on them. It could be a fictional character from a book, a comic, or movie, or it could be a real person, like a someone attending the party, the president, a famous singer. But EVERYONE must know who it is! It could be Santa Claus, Frosty the snowman, Batman, Katniss Everdeen, George Washington, etc. Tape each index card to someone's back. Everyone must guess who they are by asking yes or no questions, like, "Am I fictional?" or "Am I a girl?" or "Am I a teenager?" But you CANNOT ask, "how old am I?" or "am i a girl or a boy?" or "Am I real or fake?"
Scenes:
two people are "onstage" while everyone else watches. the two people must act out a scene without consulting one another and they must do it on the spot. (improv) One could start with asking, "Are you an alien?" and the scene would go on from there. When someone from the audience gets bored with the scene or sees a good opportunity, they shout "pause" or "stop" the actors must stop and then that audience member takes one of their places. They must immediately act out a completely different scene that has no connection to the previous one. (make sure the actor each say at least two things before you yell "pause")
Line-draw, Line-draw:
everyone needs paper and a pen/pencil. You start with everyone writing one word (or a phrase, but make sure there is a noun in the phrase) Write something like, "an evil kitten" or just simply "kitten" or something funny like "a flower that was shot and is dying" Then you fold the paper, just to cover up the words you've written, and you pass it to your left. Once you've received the paper from person on your right, you must draw it (plz draw it small!) Then you fold it, but not the whole page, only to cover up the picture, and pass it to the left. When you get the next paper, only unfold it enough to see the picture someone else drew. Then you have to figure out what it is, and write it. Then fold and pass left. repeat until you've used the whole page up. Then unfold one at a time and show everyone. I've heard something as simple as train turn into refrigerator. Another time, the evil kitten turned into a hose with buttons!
Mafia:
There are 4 major roles. The Narrator, the Mafia, the Doctor, and the Sheriff. The Narrator tells everyone "close your eyes" Once he has said this, no one may talk except for him. Then he says "I am now choosing the Mafia!" he taps one person on the head. Then he says, "I am now choosing the Doctor!" and he taps another person on the head. Then he says "I am now choosing the Sheriff!" and he taps someone else on the head. Anyone who is not chosen is a citizen of the town. Then the Narrator says, "Mafia, wake up." Then, "Who do you want to kill?" The Mafia points (No talking! Or else people will know who you are by the sound of your voice!) to the person he/she would like to kill. Narrator says, "Mafia, go back to sleep." Then "Doctor! Wake up. Who would you like to save?" The Doctor points to who he/she would like to save. Narrator says "Doctor go back to sleep." Then "Sheriff, wake up. Who would you like to investigate?" The Sheriff points to someone. If he/she is the Mafia, the Narrator must nod "yes" and if it is not,he must shake his head "no" (do not speak that aloud!) Then "Sheriff go back to sleep." And finally, "Everyone wake up!" the Narrator must tell people what happened the night before. So he says, "last night, there were major occurrences concerning the Mafia in this town!" He turns to the person the Mafia chose to kill, and says, "____(insert name here) died last night! (you may choose to go into a story of how he/she died) OR if the Doctor saved the same person the Mafia chose to kill, the Narrator says, "___(insert name here) was almost killed last night, but thanks to the Doctor, is still with us!" Then, the Narrator says "Are there any accusations of who the Mafia is?" Anyone may raise their hand and accuse anyone else (not the narrator!) BUT the Narrator must pick whoever he saw raise his/her hand first. Their is only one accusation aloud to be heard for each "day" Narrator asks, "Who wants to put (insert name here) on trial?" People vote by raising their hands. If majority wins, that person is put on trial. Narrator asks the accuser, "Why did you put (insert name here) on trial? What is your offense?" Accuser presents case. Then the Narrator turns to the accused and asks, "What is your defense?" The accused presents case. Narrator asks, "Who believes (insert name here) the Accuser?" raise hands to vote. Then "Who believes (insert name here) the Accused?" raise hands to vote. If majority votes against the accused, they are killed and out of the game. They are not aloud to talk to or help those still alive and playing the game. However if the majority votes against the accuser, nothing happens, the case is thrown out. The Narrator then says either "The Sheriff has not yet discovered the Mafia" or "The Sheriff has discovered the Mafia (insert name)" the game is over at that point. However if the Sheriff has not found Mafia, Narrator says. "It is night. Everyone close your eyes." And it starts again from the point where the Mafia chooses his victim, the Sheriff investigates, and the Doctor saves someone.
If the Doctor or Sheriff have been killed, either from the Mafia or on trial. The Narrator must announce it. When an innocent citizen dies, either from the Mafia or on trial, the Narrator must announce it. If the Mafia is killed by the Sheriff or on trial, the Narrator must announce it.
The Mafia wins when there are only 2 people left (besides himself!)
Well Maybe a themed party of Black and White, have all the guests come dressed in black and white, have the food black and white. Play the birthday boy/girl's favorite music, have black and white streamers, plates, cups, and napkins. Best of all.. have the lights where the party are replaced with Black light bulbs to make those in white glow!:) It's really cool.
Other ideas are having everyone meet at a lazer tag, Bowling, go carting, or places like that.
Cool gifts for a 13th birthday are cell phones, maybe gift cards, IPods, MP3 players, new room, lap top, the "In Things". Skinny Jeans seem to be a style now adays, so probably a shopping spree would also be good.
