African snails, like all complex organisms can become afflicted with diseases, deformation, and will eventually succumb to the effects of aging. So, in short, there are multiple things that can cause an African snails to die.
if you have African land snails as pets you will no what they (your ones) like, every group of snails in a tank can share 1 peice of cuttle fish all you do is wash it and put it in the tank ontop of the mud and they will suck it to make there shell strong. BUT you need to wash it very well first or the gurms from it could cause them to die BUT you need to give them a bit or they WILL DIE ANYWAY.
no, they live in light constantly like me
In an attempt to protect the food sources of local Hawaiian snails from rival snails accidentally introduced by the British in potted plants and the like they brought to the islands, they brought in African carnivorous snails to hunt them. These enormous snails follow the trail of another (smaller) snail until they catch up with it and eat it. Unfortunately the giant snails also liked eating the local indigenous snails so the problem was just made worse.
camoflage (it changes colour like some other cephalopods( octopuses and squids)) and its bone ( although budgies and giant african land snails normally eat shop bought cuttlefish bones.)
Yes snails do have scales, a little known fact about snails is that they are related to dragons and other giant lizards like Nessy (The Loch Ness Monster).
Snails don't change their shells. Unlike crustaceans, molluscs like snails keep the same shell throughout their lifetime. The shell is formed from secretions from the snails mantle, the flesh under the shell, and some snails (such as the giant African snails kept as pets) can be seen running their mouths along the edge of their shells, to build up another layer on the shells lip. The stripes that make up the pattern of a snails shell are the result of different compositions of shell material at different times.
Snails do carry diseases! African land snails can harbor and pass on Meningitis and Schistosomiasis--a parasitic disease. They also are loaded with bacteria like salmonella and e-coli.
You can have A Giant African Land Snail like I have!
giant African land snails are constant eaters so as long as there is food they will eat it. also they need a constans surply of cuttle fish bone or they will die, there fav food is lettice an cucumber
They do it the same way we do, using intestinal peristalsis to move the fecal matter out through their anal sphincter. After that, it falls to the floor of their environment to be incorporated into the environment.
