You might want to think about or be sure that it's an appropriate essay to put a joke in. Make sure it isn't offensive towards anybody and don't make it too long. One line jokes work well, but have to be connected with the essay in some way.
Otherwise, I don't know any jokes, but generally they would be the kind you make in a speech.
