dude i said the exact same thing when my drummer had the idea of recruiting another guitarist or our band really the only reason is that you can have much more diverse tones coming from your band like messin' with the effect and tuning with different players but unless you are fine with sharing your gig money with one more person who just walked in on your project dont do it
