The lines of latitude are lines that go east and west around the globe or map ,the equater us the line in the middle that separates north and south :)

It is known as the "equator".

The Earth is a globe (an oblate spheroid) that is separated into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere by the Equator (zero degrees latitude). The Equator horizontally encircles the Earth.
The latitude line that circles the globe at the exact midpoint between the North and South pole is known as the equator. It is located at 0 degrees latitude and divides the Earth into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. The equator is approximately 40,075 kilometers (24,901 miles) long.
The key parts of a globe include the equator, which divides the globe into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, the prime meridian, which divides the globe into the Eastern and Western Hemispheres, and the latitude and longitude lines used for location coordinates. Other important parts include the continents, oceans, and countries represented on the globe.
The line of latitude running around the approximate middle of the globe is the EQUATOR.
That's the equator.
That's the equator.
'Zero latitude' is the definition of the equator.
There isn't much difference between the terms when the they are applied to maps. When an x-y co-ordinate system is overlaid onto a map with the x axis on the equator, the north latitudes, those lines parallel to the equator and which are drawn around the globe above it, or north of it, can be called northings instead of north latitudes. Got a link posted.
