Mammoths lived in many different habitats around the world. However, they usually lived in grasslands. Some, such as the Woolly Mammoth, lived in Arctic grasslands (tundra), and others, such as the Columbian Mammoth, lived in temperate grasslands, and others, such as the African Ancestor Mammoth, lived in savannas.
Note that mammoths in warmer climates didn't have long hair.
Tundra and evergreen forest.
Woolly mammoths lived in the tundra of Russia and Europe during the last Ice Age.
Mammoths were grass eating animals. Because grass grows well in the plains, that would have been an ideal habitat for mammoths. In fact, woolly mammoths lived in the tundra, which are dry, treeless plains, and Columbian mammoths lived in the Great Plains.
Scientists do not know for certain why mammoths died out. Theories include climate change leading to habitat loss or overhunting from humans.
As the world got warmer the woolly mammoth habitat decreased their source of food and as the human population grew the more hunters their was around to hunt the mammoths so that could drove the last of the mammoths to extinction

Woolly mammoths mostly lived in open tundra habitat. Their range was from Europe through Siberia and Alaska, and even into central Canada and the Midwestern USA.
Thayer had long and thick fur and found in frozen areas so I would say their habitat is cold frozen or wet areas.

Elephants are less hairy than mammoths and do not posses such large tusks. Elephants are not extinct, while mammoths are.
The mammoths lived for 100,000000 of years but a mammoths lived for 80 years
