I suppose they are part of the lizard family... to put it more specific I would say they are amphibious reptiles.

There is a species of crocodile known as a "Mugger" and also as a "Marsh" crocodile. Similarly there are other reptiles that have a variation of them beginning with M. Also, there are some snakes known as Moccasins, like a water moccasin and a cottonmouth moccasin.
it depends on what kind, and most people think of sea turtles when turtles are mentioned but there is way more. Reptile - no hair - skin type looks like snake or a gator

it depends on your skill level, how much time/money you're willing to sacrafice. If this is your first lizard i would recommend getting a leopard gecko or a crested gecko. Sooner or later you might want something more challenging, you should consider getting a blue tongue skink or a bearded dragon. When you've had alot of experience taking care of these animals you coud move on to monitors. Keep in mind, these are just suggestions. There are plenty of other lizards that you should consider getting. I dont know much about reptiles besides lizards....you might want to get a snake or a turtle. Gators are for experienced owners only. Research a lot before you get your reptile whether it's a snake, turtle, or a lizard.
