Many people because of the way they have to work today (o/t or shift work) often will have to miss all or part of a wedding. By at least attending the reception you are there to make the couple feel special and join in on their special day. * No it's not rude at all. Anyone can go to the church, even if they are not invited. My mother in law has done that for friends of ours, when she wasn't invited to the reception.
