Well, Don Bradman is the best batsman ever in the history of Cricket. After him, Sachin Tendulkar is arguably the best batsman. Another contender for this is Brian Lara. Lately, Ricky Ponting and Mohammad Yousuf has been in tremendous form and is fast catching up with Sachin and Brian in statistics.

Though it is a matter of argument that he batted in an era where only 2 others teams were present and most of the matches that he played were against England Bowling attack. It has been estimated had he batted in this era, he would have been averaging 65 which is still much higher than what batsmen achieve today. There is another way to describe great batsmanship other than average is impact a particular batsman had on the match and entertainment value.
