itunes
Yes, if you have purchased it from a legal source, such as iTunes.
You can use Napster for songs, and other legal places to get songs and videos.
Yes, iTunes is a reputable site with legal music. They even have deals so you can legally download some songs for free.
No, iTunes is 100% legal. Unfortunately iTunes is not 100% legal. Itunes sells downloads from providers on the basis of the providers giving false information and does nothing to verify or even question the false information. I am the owner of copyrighted music that is available on iTunes. When I approached iTunes I was told that they had nothing to do with it and I must "reason" with the provider. I believe this is wrong and they are as irresponsible as the "provider". I have made no agreement with iTunes or the provider and so my dispute is with iTunes as much as with the illegal provider. The provider is totally unreasonable and is ripping me off anyway and so will not act in a reasonable or responsible manner. iTunes/Apple agree that music must have the permission of the music copyright holder before they can be presented for download. The provider in question here does not own the music copyright and does not have my permission. The provider has broken the terms of their agreement with iTunes by doing this but iTunes continue to insist that the problem must be resolved between the illegal provider and myself. Meanwhile iTunes continue to provide the illegal downloads, without question Both iTunes and the provider know that I can do nothing other than take expensive and time consuming legal action, from across the Atlantic. I am an independent artist. I am getting no royalties from this situation, from the provider or from iTunes. I therefore conclude that iTunes is exploiting independent artists and ripping people off knowing there is not much anyone can do about it.
