Teachers of comparative philosophy or religion teach about Atheism in the context of alternate religions. Some lecturers teach about atheism to indicate why theists do not do the good job they think they are doing. Theistic lecturers teach about atheism to demonstrate its evil and insidious nature. I'm not clear what you are asking here. Atheism isn't a religion so it doesn't have "teachings" in the religious sense.
Atheism exists; there are many people who believe there are no gods.

Atheism isn't a club and therefore does not have members. There are no global statistics for people who are atheist.
No. In and of itself atheism is simply the absence of any belief in gods. It is a benign intellectual choice. Some people with strong religious beliefs may find that offensive but atheism itself is not the offender. Also, there may be some people who are atheists who are offensive but that is true of any group of people and is not caused by atheism but by human nature.
Atheism is not a "unifying" force nor is it intended to be. Atheism is not a religion nor a political system and there is no central organizing entity. Since atheism is not driven by any strict set of doctrines and atheists have no motive to take control over other people, force people to become atheists or rule the world, atheism is a relatively benign personal choice to not accept a belief in the supernatural.
Atheism was not established or founded by any one individual. It is not an organization or collective group of people that can be "established". In short, nobody.
