First off "Pit Bulls" aren't a breed but a term used to describe three different Dog Breeds:
American Pit Bull Terrier
American Staffordshire Terrier
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
At first they were bred as baiting dogs, they fought big animals like bulls and bear, but that became illegal so people started dog fighting. Even in the dog fighting business they were bred to be human friendly if any dog showed aggression to its handler it wasn't bred. Not all pits were bred for fighting and baiting, some were bred by responsible owners who actually cared for there dogs.
♥Pittbulls came from America♥
Yes there is such a breed as a mini pittbull. I own one. Her name is Brindle. Mini Pittbulls get to be about 30 lbs. and a full grown pittbull gets to be about 50-60 lbs.
Pit Bulls are not banned in any states. However Ohio regulates them on a state level. 11 states prohibit breed bans. For a database of breed specific legislation, see the related Links below.

They're no more dangerous than any other breed of dog ! It's how they're treated by their owners, coupled with the type of training they receive - that turns them into dangerous dogs !
