Answer: Pomeranians originated as sled and sheep herder dogs in Pomerania- a region now recognized as Poland and East Germany. They used to be over 30 pounds until breeders began to breed them down to the size they are today. They make great apartment dogs. They are used in therapy, and as search and rescue dogs (because they are small and fit into small spaces in collapsed buildings where bigger dogs can't go). Michelangelo, Mozart, Marie Antoinette and Queen Victoria all had Pomeranians. The Pomeranian became popular in the 1800s when Queen Victoria brought some to England as showdogs- because she preferred smaller dogs, breeders began to try to breed them smaller. They were recognized as a breed in the United States by the AKC in the early 19th century.

well.. not entirly true. everyone dog is diffrent i have had a standard poodle for 4 years now. he is a handfull!! poodles are very smart so he learned how to open our trash and get into everything! but he is a sweetheart i just brang a tiny little guinea pig into the house and he loves her as if she was his on pup. but i think poodles are great but i would get a minature if i were you
