The Kohanim (כוה×?ים) were the ancient Jewish priests that served in the Temple in Jerusalem up until the year 70 C.E. The singular form is Kohen (כהן)Note: This word is not used for any other type of priests, such as Catholic priests, which are called Komerim.

The Israelite/Hebrew/Jewish Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. In the Biblical Age, Ancient Israel had Priests called Kohanim (literally Hebrew for "Priests") who oversaw the sacrifices in the Great Temple and passed this position to their children. The Kohanim still exist today as the descendants of those Priests and commonly have the last name of Cohen or some variant to indicate their ancestry.
