Application software
Normally, those are referred to as the "application" programs. A computer may be running any number of programs, all at the same time. The operating system manages the system's resources, the network programs allow the computer to communicate with other computers, and the graphics programs help to display information visually on the computer monitor. None of those, by themselves, are useful to users. In order to perform a task, such as fill out a tax return, you need a program written to perform that application (hence, they are called "applications" or "application programs). These programs actually do something useful for a person, and they utilize (and communicate with) the others programs that are running on the computer in order to complete the desired task.
