Coins minted in San Francisco.
There were no 1949-S Washington Quarters minted! If you have one it would either be super rare or (most likely) a counterfeit! "The Silver Series of Washington Quarters spans from 1932 to 1964; during many years in the series it will appear that certain mints did not mint Washington Quarters for that year. No known examples of quarters were made in 1933, San Francisco abstained in 1934 and 1949, and stopped after 1955, until it resumed in 1968 by way of making proofs." -Wikipedia K. Yes, they are made of 90% silver.

Many U.S. coins have a mint mark to show where it was minted. On modern quarters, the mark is just to the right of Washington's hair ribbon. P stands for Philadelphia, D is Denver, S is San Francisco, and on older quarters there is O for New Orleans. On quarters minted before 1980, there was no mint mark for Philadelphia. For silver Washington quarters dated 1964 and earlier, Barber quarters, and Seated Liberty quarters, the mark is on the back just below the eagle. Then with Standing Liberty quarters, the mark is on the front, just above and to the left of the date.
I don't really know, but there are territory coins such as Guam and Washington dc quarters.
In 2007 state quarters were issued for Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah.
Washington quarters dated 1932-1941 are 90% silver coins, in this date range any coin with a mintmark has a higher collectible value, especially the 1932 with a "D" or "S" mintmark.
The mint mark on all Washington quarters dated 1968-present is just to the right of the ribbon in Washington's wig (though Philadelphia didn't use a mark until 1980).
There are no Liberty US quarters in the dates given. If you look at the coins you will see George Washington's portrait on the them. With that said, the year with the lowest mintage is the 1937-S only 1,652,000 were struck.
