When the Sun rises over the land early in the morning, it heats the ground which in turn heats the air. Warmer air rises, and air from over the ocean is sucked in below it to replace all that air that rose.

This air movement is called a sea breeze.

In the evening, the Sun is on its way down, the ground cools and falls toward the ground, pushing the air from the ocean back out over the ocean. This air movement is also called a sea breeze.
