Signs of anorexia nervosa are a low body weight, thinning hair, dry skin, brittle nails, and shrunken breasts. No menstrual period, low blood pressure, and feeling cold with a lower than normal body temperature are also signs of anorexia nervosa.
Signs of bulimia (spelling correction) include people eating lots of food, but no notice of weight gain. Other signs include an obsession with excessive exercising and getting angry when questioned about eating little food. A history of anorexia is also a sign that someone may have bulimia. Vomiting after eating as well would confirm it.
Yes. Bulimia Nervosa, and similarly Anorexia Nervosa, are well-known and easily recognised mental/eating disorders. It is rather common and is mentioned a lot in the media.Teachers andprofessorsare trained to recognise the signs of issues in their students, such as abuse, learning difficulties and eating disorders. This is so they can offer them help or point them to the relevantresourcesfor help.Bulimia and Anorexia are extremely dangerous conditions that cost hundreds of lives orpermanentlyscar people for life (ie - former female sufferers may find it impossible to fall pregnant).
No. Bulimia it self is a eating disorder, while the symptoms are the same. They both usually starve themselves, but if a bulimic eats one or a few more bites of something, he/she will go and purposefully make themselves vomit.
I normally just document that they show signs and symptoms of an eating disorder, without a specific term.
If you need to engage in something, even if it would have negative consequences, then it qualifies as an addiction.
if I'm not mistaken, that's what happens when someone develops hypoglycemia...it's actually one of the signs of hypoglycemia...i think that's correct at least. I don't know why the body chooses to react that way. (I remember a first aid flip-book i studied once. If I'm not mistaken, if you know someone is diabetic-i guess even if they aren't, but definitely if they are- and they are passed out, if you smell their breath, and it smells sweet, then they are suffering from low suger levels, and you need to treat them as such) sooo it would go without saying that probably the majority of people suffering from anorexia nervosa would have sweet smelling breath.
The warning signs of bulimia can be physical symptoms or behaviors. Dark rings below the eyes and eroding teeth and gums can be signs of bulimia. Weight is a lousy indicator. Many bulimics are heavy. They may binge twice as often as they purge. (Purging is painful and harder to do without getting caught.) Disappearing to the bathroom immediately after eating can also be a red flag indicating bulimia. Also, complaints of sensations akin to acid reflux can be another sign.
