There are a wide variety of American Indian tribes that are still in existence today. The Choctaw, Cherokee, and Navajo, for example, each still have reservations on American land.

There are several tribes who inhabited Pennsylvania. They were the Lenape, the Seneca and Oneida of the Iroquois Confederacy, the Munsee, Shawnee, Erie and Susquehonnock tribes. Later the Nanticoke tribe migrated to the region. Today there are no federally recognized tribes in Pennsylvania, although the Indians do still exist.

There are no federally recognized Indian tribes in Illinois today.
The Inca civilization no longer exists as an empire, but the descendants of the Inca people still live in Peru and other Andean regions. Their rich cultural heritage and traditions continue to be celebrated and preserved by indigenous communities in the Andes.
The Aztecs still do exist today. They number up to more than a million people in Mexico today who even still speak Nahuatl (Ancient language of the Aztecs). A large proportion of the Mexican are Mestizos which means they are of mixed Spanish and Amerindian ancestry. For many the Amerindian blood is Aztec. For others they have ancestry from other Indian tribes like the Maya, Talaxcala, Apache etc.

It is estimated that there are still around 4,000 tribes scattered around the USA; however, the Federal Government only recognizes 513 of these tribes still today.
Despite a heroic effort on behalf of the United States, Indians (Native Americans) were not all wiped out and still exist today.
