The Roman government gave the world several things. Borrowing from the Greeks they broke up the government into parts and had a "balance of power" between the three parts of the government. They added the ability of the "common" man to take part in the government as well as a higher Senate as part of the 3 branches. We have copied these ideas in our own government. The Romans also gave us the arch, cement, and military thinking. General George S. Patton was said to have studied the Romans as well as others when formatting battles.
