Landscape architecture is a unique field because it blends creativity, logic, and nature into one profession. A landscape architect often takes a leadership role in the coordination effort between engineers, architects and developers by utilizing a generalized broad skill set learned in school and in the field. Not only do Landscape architects need to have a keen design sense, they also need to know a little about architecture, a little about engineering and a little about business in order for them to design an environment. They design parks, neighborhoods, resorts, cities, plazas, and other open spaces from the largest details such as road planning and building orientation to the smallest, like knowing exactly which screw to use to construct a custom beach boardwalk.

Just make sure you learn CAD, you don't get to conceptually plan cities everyday on the job. A lot of it, especially starting out, can be grunt work... (pretty much like every profession).

The one bad side to it is that everyone hears "landscape" architect and they think you mow lawns for a living, a crushing blow to anyone who spent five years at a major university earning a degree.

Site visits can be cool too, you get to go see the places you design.
If you want to be a millionaire, invent something, don't be an LA.
If you want to have a rewarding career, try it out.
