Qayyúmu'l-Asmá' (Maintainer of Divine Names) was the first scriptural work of the Báb. It is also known as Ahsan al-Qisas (Best of Stories). Structured like the Qur'an (111 chapters each with 42 verses), each chapter is headed by some combination of mysterious disconnected letters. To Muslims this was supposed to have indicated that the author was claiming Revelation.
Al-Bayán (The Explanation) interpreted the figurative verses of the Qur'an.
Dala'il-i-Sab'ih (The Seven Proofs) is an apologia by the Báb in defense of his claims to be the awaited Mahdiof Islam.
Kitáb-i-Asmá' (Book of Names) was written to the Báb's followers warning them not to let anything, not even the Bayán, keep them from recognizing the "Promised One" who was soon to appear on earth [ie., Baha'u'llah].
