You may or may not need a muscle relaxer. It depends on what your doctor says is wrong with your back. If you have a slipped disc or something else wrong with the spine, muscle relaxers aren't going to help you. See a doctor to determine which medication you need to be taking.

I am having the same symptoms. I had just went to my doctor and she prescribed me Muscle Relaxers and a drug called Mobic which is supposed to reduced inflammation. She said it could possibly be a pinched nerve or a slipped disc. Try to soak in a hot bath as hot as you can stand it and hopefully you get some relief. That is all I can tell ya! If you have a Rx, it won't be a problem even if it is drug tested for or you come up positive from it. Generally No (most don't include controlled substances ) but sometimes benzodiazepines (schedule IV controlled substance) like Valium (diazepam), Ativan (lorazepam), Rivotril (clonazepam), Klonopin are used as muscle relaxers and you may be tested for/ fail positive (depend on the test panels - 5 panel drug test or some 8,10, 12 panel test).
The best relaxers brand are up to you. There are some good relaxers but you need to get one that works well on your hair and hair type.
