Some differences between mitosis and meiosis are..
mitosis: produces daughter cells
only has one cell division
only produces 2 cells
number of chromosomes is diploid
meiosis: produces sex cells
doubles the amount of cell divisions compared to mitosis
doubles the amount of cells produced compared to mitosis
number of chromosomes is haploid
And there you go. These are some differences between mitosis and meiosis. Please do not just copy these onto your homework paper. Thank you.
They need both if they are producing animal gametes.
Mitosis and meiosis are alike in that they both are a kind of cell division. They are different in that mitosis produces two cells identical to the original, while meiosis produces cells that only have half the chromosomes of the original. Meiosis ends up with haploid cells, while mitosis end up with diploid cells.
1. Meiosis, instead of mitosis makes 4 daughter cells after the process is complete. 2. Because of meiosis, kids inherit some special chromosomes from their parents after the process.
Mitosis is the process in which a cell's nucleus replicates and divides. Mitosis results in two cells that are genetically identical. These cells are necessary for growth and replacement of worn out cells, as well as for asexual reproduction (reproduction without eggs and sperm) that takes place in some organisms. Meiosis is the process of cell division in which the cell's genetic information is randomly mixed and divided into sex cells, each having half the normal number of chromosomes. These cells can later combine to form offspring with the full number of chromosomes, but each new offspring will have a unique genetic inheritance.
Budding or fission are not part of mitosis or meiosis but these are types of asexual reproduction .During budding in Yeast a small out growth appears on one side of cell , enlarges and separates .During fission one cell divides in two equal cells as in Amoeba .
mitosis are division of the cell in which the nucleus is divided into two cells where as in meiosis nucleus are further divide and divide

These multicellular and some unicellular organisms are termed Eukaryotic Cells.
In mitosis, cell division creates two diploid cells, while in meiosis, cell division creates two haploid cells. In metaphase of mitosis, a pair of chromosomes meet in the middle of the cell. during anaphase, the pair seperates. In meiosis, the chromosomes line up individualy in metaphase and separate in anaphase. Mitosis is cell division for all cells in the body except gamete cells. Meiosis is cell division for gamete cells.

Many celled organisms, or eukaryotes, have a bounded nucleus and can use the processes of mitosis and meiosis.

What I remember from school was that meiosis split into 4 cells and that mitosis split into two cells and I think that meiosis happened when cells were trying to repair something and mitosis was for reproduction. (Remember miTosis=Two)
Majority of eukaryotes undergo meiosis for sexual reproduction. But some undergo mitosis for asexual reproduction.
