Many parasitic worms are in the aschelminthes family. Livestock infected with parasitic worms is seldom as productive or efficient as animals that have not been infected. People who are infected suffer the same consequences, as energy derived from food is directed to feeding the parasites.

There are a ton of examples of lower animals. Some of these lower animals include field mice and sewer rats.
Aschelminthes, which includes roundworms and nematodes, typically feed on organic matter in the soil or water. Some species are parasites that feed on the tissues or body fluids of other organisms. They usually ingest food through a mouth opening and digest it internally.
