(1) Matsushima (pine islands)--bunch of islands near Sendai. You can take a boat ride.
(2) Miyajima--an island with a big Tori Gate in water. Near Hiroshima
(3) Amanohashidate--very hard to get to, a long sand "pier" with a good aerial view. It's so off the beaten track I would not visit it if you have other places to see.
