If you're looking for fiction, I would recommend Bad Girls Don't Pee, or The Twilight series. Nonfiction books, Roll of Thunder: Hear My Cry Or Belle Prater's Boy. If you want more books I'm sure you could ask your school librarian or check a recommended reading list on your schools website or ask a Reading/English teacher.
I, being in 8th grade myself, love the Alex Rider series.
Please don't let them only read Twilight!
If they are a girl, Try Wildwood Dancing by Juliet M. Also, your girl could read the Once Upon A Timenovels. they are great! Another good one is Megan Meade's Guide to the McGowan Boys.
If it is a guy, try The Ranger's Apprentice series! Also, try The Last Apprentice series.
Some good ones for both guys and gals, are the Percy Jackson: and the Olympian (5 books) series ; The Keys to the Kingdom series; Fablehaven ; Leven Thumps; Pendragon series; Harry Potter; The 39 Clues

I don't really like chapter books. I like comic books and some good books for seventh graders are "Kitchen Princess".
"Among the Hidden", "Touching Spirit Bear", "When Zachary Beaver Came to Town", "Killing Mr. Griffin", and "Holes".

∙ 13y agosome good books would be: The Clique series by Lisi Harrison, the Magic in Manhattan series by Sarah Mylnowski, you could also try the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer, I would suggest you read the last two books before your daughter reads them. I'm in 7th grade and my mom hasn't let me read them yet. Another good series would be Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I don't really know what kind of books you're into, but like the other person said, the Narnia books were a good read. Also, other books I've enjoyed that you could read are "The Lightening Thief" (that's a series, but they're really good.), "Eragon" (that's a series, too.), "Gone" (also a series), "Speak", "The Hunger Games" (series)...
Wow, there's so many! I can't really bring any others to mind, but those are some books I enjoyed reading. You could probably also check out books by Gordon Korman. And for something a little different, you could read the "Bones" series. They're a series of graphic novels, and I enjoyed them a lot. Judy Blume books are good, too. Hope that helped! :)
