There are loads of games like World of Warcraft, maybe not as 'good' but they are FREE to play. There is Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2, (which is coming out soon) Perfect World... loads of others too.
World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Entropia, Shaiya, Realm of the Mad God and Allods.
guild wars, better graphics, more fun, and no monthly fee
A: By raiding and grouping with people and questing with them and asking them about their guilds etc. and if theres a guild you really like ask for an invite and tell them what you are good at (pvp, raiding etc) and by getting to knwo people in guilds well and being on good terms with them
There really isn't any one guild that is the best at raising (most people call it a leveling guild). Your best bet is to just pick a server, and just ask around in trade chat as to which one is a good one on that server.
There are 8 guild ranks, I can't remember the names but there are 8 ranks, and 6 is normally active members, 7 is new and 8 is inactive. 3-5 would be people who know a good amount about the game and can help new members. 2 would be people who form activities in the guild and know alot about the game. 1 would be a small amount of people who make weekly events, help everyone out with the guild, issues in wow, discuss things, do all kinds of stuff. Then 0, which is the GUILD LEADER!!! :P
World of Warcraft lore can be found at the official World of Warcraft website, along with other sites, but it is a good place to start. On the official site they have the history and lore of the Warcraft Universe.

world of warcraft
World of warcraft is a game that like most things can be taken to to an extreme and labelled bad. It is a game that some say is addictive (bad), cost money monthly(bad), that is extremely fun (good). There is a social aspect to it as you join a guild and play with others on a regular basis, however this is true for most MMORPG.
There is a good world of warcraft guide on http://www.hiddenstuff.com/ that will teach you how to do this. hope it helps!
