for me, the hardest part is the time constriction. I've taken it twice and the first time, if i couldn't get the answer right away, i'd try for a little while longer to see if i could get it; but if you try just a little while longer on a lot of questions, it all adds up, so i didn't finish any of the sections. the second time, if i couldn't get the answer right away, i would circle that number to go back to it if i had time at the end. that worked a lot better because i finished a lot more and even had time to go back at the end to try to figure out the ones i had skipped. hope that helps. and if anyone else has any other advice, i'd love to know for the third time i take it

First, you should keep up-to-date with your school studies. Have a set time every day that you study, and treat this as a job until you pass the exams.

Second, practice. There are some Related Links with practice tests below. You can also learn how to do best on different kinds of questions.

Study books and tutors can be effective, but the best way I found was to just keep taking practice tests over and over again until you are comfortable with the format of the test

My suggestion is to join a group of people preparing for the similar tests so that you can be updated. Take a many tests before the real exam as you can so that you are totally comfortable before the big day.

There are no disadvantages to passing exams -- they improve your grades and help you learn how to take tests. If you are talking about some sort of exam where you need a higher score to get into a good college, the disadvantage to just getting a passing score would be that you won't get into a really good school.
