The Nikon EM loads similarly to most SLR cameras. For a great resource and step by step instructions, check out http://www.nikonians.org/, it is a community for Nikon camera support.
To turn on a Nikon EM camera, locate the power switch, which is typically found on the top of the camera body. Slide the switch to the "On" position, which is usually marked with a green dot or the word "On." Make sure you have a fully charged battery installed, as the camera requires power to operate. Once activated, the camera's meter should light up, indicating it's ready for use.

To load film in your Nikon EM camera, first open the back by sliding the latch. Place the film canister in the left compartment, ensuring the film leader is pointing towards the right. Pull the film across the camera and insert the leader into the take-up spool, then advance the film slightly to ensure it's secure. To unload, simply rewind the film using the rewind knob until you feel it release, then open the back and remove the film canister.
