You can only grief whitelisted servers, which usually feature many complex buildings and models for you to destroy for a few kicks.
I do believe Minecraft for Xbox 369 is in 'alpha' and only has online and offline multiplayer.
There's no official friends list in Minecraft, but you on special servers there are plugins that enable you to add friends.

Minecraft servers cost money to run, it's not likely someone will give you a server for free. Servers require a computer, internet connection, and electricity and all of these cost money.
They're not known to ever go on any public Minecraft servers themselves, it is said that they have their own.
