Nuclear power amounts for a somewhat large portion of our the energy that we use. However, nuclear spills can be devastating. When a nuclear power plant leaks, radioactive material is released into the environment. This material is extremely harmful to humans and can cause many health problems and cancer. Radiation is spread through the air. It can take many years for the harmful material in the environment to go away. One of the most well-known nuclear accidents was the disaster at Chernobyl. Also, the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan recently had a spill.
Reduction in Air Pollution. Nuclear power can also be part of a strategy to address carbon emissions. Nuclear power plants emit no carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, or nitrous oxides.
Most countries that have sufficiently advanced science and engineering background do already have some nuclear power plants. Exceptions I can think of are Australia and New Zealand, and there it is because there are other types of fuel available and popular opinion is anti-nuclear, you would have to ask them why that is so. Also in Italy, they did have a few plants but a referendum gave a negative answer and so these plants were shutdown before the end of their life. Italians would have to tell you why they voted that way, and whether this opinion still holds today
There were increasing concerns about safety due to some high-profile disasters involving nuclear power plants - particularly at Chernobyl and Three Mile Island. They were also very costly to build, and not necessarily as economical as other sources of energy (such as oil).

It cannot do it the direct way. Nuclear energy makes heat and this heat can be used do heat water that drives normal turbines that make electricity. Most commonly, nuclear energy is used to boil water and produce high pressure steam. The steam is then used to turn a turbine, which turns a generator which produces electricity.

Belgium does have some nuclear plants. See the link below
Most of it does, but some comes from weapons manufacture as well
Nuclear power plants supply power to parts of some citites. This is an example of how nuclear processes are used in industrial applications.
Most plants have two reactors but some have more
Some people do not agree with Japan building and using nuclear power plants because twenty percent of the worlds earthquakes occur in Japan which causes dangers for the people living in Japan.
No, not directly anyway. Some power plants may use batteries for emergency power supplies.
Uranium is very important as a nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants. Nuclear power plants have no contribution to global warming. Also producing electricity in nuclear power plants lead to economy of fossil fuels; note many countries has not fossils fuels and the prices are more and more greater. But uranium is toxic and radioactive.
Nuclear fusion is used in some nuclear power plants that can handle the heat and radiation without suffering a meltdown. You should check out nuclear fission in power plants first.
