Sigverif.exe is a Microsoft System 32 process that controls File Signature Verification. It is a required process for Windows and should not be stopped or delayed during startup. If you are getting errors from it, Process Library .com recommends that you reinstall the program that you were starting when the error occurred.
Depending on your version of Windows, MSCONFIG is one utility that Windows supplies to control the startup environment. However, while easy and more convenient to use than manually configuring each of your programs, MSCONFIG is not the program of choice to control the startup environment. It is a short term fix for controlling whether or not a program loads during startup. The arrogance of programmers to presume everyone wants everything to load during startup makes configuring many programs difficult. But working within the programs to control their startup behavior is preferable to using MSCONFIG. Whenever possible, when installing a program, rather than using the default, choose the Advanced installation method and control where and when your program installs/ loads.

In XP...Start,run, type in MSCONFIG...hit ok...look for the startup tab and uncheck anything you don't want at startup - Click apply then ok. Then Restart ...when the computer starts back up you will see a box stating that you are running windows in selective startup. check the box that says "do not show this notice again" then hit ok. that's it ! If you are uncertain which devices to disable at startup, you can either leave them checked or do an internet search on the item and the intenet will have information on what the process is.
