Depends on what you are trying to swap. Most parts are some are not.
The firing order should be stamped onto the engine block at some location, or on the stickers at the front of the hood.

As a general rule of thumb, 1989 Ford Rangers share parts with all Rangers up to the year 1992. There are some exceptions to that, not sure if the windshield is or not.
A 5.0 liter engine will fit in a 1994 Ford Ranger with some modifications. The position of the transmission, motor mounts, and wiring will all need to be changed.
the control is electrical i do believe so you would need to replace the switch. the switch is behind the knob you turn. of course you will need to remove some parts to get to it.

yes it would fit in a 1994-2009. some minor duct changes but the engines are dimensionaly the same.
no sorry to say they want the bolt pattern is to small but a Toyota,jeep, ford ranger and some oldsmobiles will if you use Toyota or ford ranger rims you have to but a spacer or five washers on b4 you put on the rim to keep it off the calapers i have a 96 ford probe and i have some kind of ford rims on it and i had to but washers on and then the rims to keep it from rubbing
