There are various reasons. Some people enjoy using them for recreation, some people keep them for self defense, some people simply collect them. And unfortunately, some people have them so they can commit violent crimes.

Your question asks for an opinion. MY opinion is that some people should, some should not. IF you are a responsible adult that does not break laws, guns are used for recreation and for defense. If you are a criminal or cannot act responsibly with things that cause harm, you should not keep guns, knives, jagged rocks and be kept away from pointy sticks.
