∙ 10y agoIf you leave the copper IUD in too long, there are no potential health problems. If you leave a hormonal IUD like Mirena in too long, you may not be protected against pregnancy, but there are no other risks.

∙ 10y agoCramping and light bleeding are noticeable side effects for the first week or so of use. An increase in menstrual bleeding or the device getting stuck or coming out are also issues.
