Well, I'd tell my new friend to get to know a few people, and be comfortable in his new school. He doesn't need to worry about it, or stress about it. he may want to get into a sport or activity (band, clubs...ect)
Just be there for him, and show him he has a good friend to count on, and he'll be fine.
