Thais are very superstitious. For example treading on a door step, sleeping under roof beams, living on a street corner, having more than two roads to your house, house spirits (most houses have spirit houses outside for spirits to live in), no hair cuts on a wednesday, wear certain colours on certain days, not walk under clothes line, not put underwear on the head (or shoes), not put Buddha images on the floor/in trouser pockets/etc, not stepping on money/books, not stepping over people laying on the floor, and so on.
